Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrous contact lens which is drastically lessened in the integration of a surface by the charges included in the protein, lipid, cell fragments and other wastes in lacrimal fluid.
SOLUTION: This contact lens consists of a polymer obtd. by polymerizing a monomer mixture composed of 0.5 to 49 pts.wt. radical polymerizable monomer having a quaternary ammonium salt, 0.5 to 49 pts.wt. radical polymerizable monomer having an anionic group selected from a carboxyl group, sulfonic acid group and phosphoric acid group, 8 to 97 pts.wt. 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate or N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone and 2 to 91 pts.wt. monomer copolymerizable therewith. The quaternary ammonium ions and anionic ions in which the paired ions of the quaternary ammonium ions and anionic ions are deoxidized or desalted each other exist in the form of zwitterions.
