Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formulaI(X1 and X2 are H, nitro or halogen).
EXAMPLE: 6-( 2-Chlorophenyl )-4-hydroxy-8-nitro-4H-imidazo[1,2-a] [1,4]-benzodiazepin.
USE: An agent for improving cerebral metabolism. Useful also as a minor tranquillizer. It has antiischemic, antianoxic and antianxiety activities. Dose: about 0.3W3mg daily for adult.
PROCESS: Reaction of the novel compound of formula II with a reactive derivative of a lower alkanecarboxylic acid (e.g. acetyl chloride, acetic anhydride, etc.) at 90W100°C for 30minWseveral hours affords the compound of formula III (R is lower alkyl), which is separated or hydrolyzed to obtain the compound of formulaI.
