PURPOSE: A hypoglycemic that contains saccharides selected from hard-digestive polysaccharides, oligosaccharides and their derivatives as active ingredients, thus being used as preventive and remedy for metabolic diseases or digestive diseases.

CONSTITUTION: The objective hypoglycemic is obtained by using saccharides selected from hard-digestive polysaccharides, oligosaccharides and these derivatives as active ingredients. The resultant hypoglycemic is effective for metabolic diseases such as hyperglycemic, diabetes, corpulency or arteriosclerosis, caused by excessive intake of readily digestive saccharides, especially starch or sucrose, and for preventing and treating digestive diseases such as diarrhea caused by unbalanced diet by excessive intake of readily digestive saccharides, gastrointestinal catarrh or abnormal itestinal fermentation. It is given orally, intraperitoneally or intravenously, however, it is suitable for oral administration more and is low toxicity. The saccharide as the active ingredients is produced by a microorganism or by a plant or animal, or obtained as its derivative.
