Abstract:
To provide a drug or a food and drink effective for prophylaxis/treatment of arteriosclerosis by utilizing a biological regulating functions possessed by cycloartane type triterpene saponins found in Cimicifuga racemosa because it is necessary to find an active ingredient from a food or a material corresponding thereto when the arteriosclerosis regarded as threatening health of people is subjected to prophylaxis/treatment.
A hypotensive agent and an antagonist comprise each the cycloartane type triterpene saponin as an active ingredient and have antagonistic actions on adrenaline β1 receptors. The hypotensive agent and the antagonist are utilized as the food and drink.
