Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a hypotensive comprising linspermic acid B or a salt thereof as an active ingredient.
CONSTITUTION: A hypotensive comprising lithospermic acid B shown by the formula or a salt thereof (e.g. Mg, K, NH4 or Ca salt), an isolated substance from Japanese and Chinese drug, Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge. The compound, for example, is obtained by adjusting an extracted solution of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge to pH2-4, subjecting the solution to column chromatography, washing with water, making an aqueous solution of acetate flow, washing with water, collecting a fraction eluted with hydrous methanol and further purifying. A dose of the compound is 50-1,500mg daily for hypertensive patient of adult of light or middle symptom.
