Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a hysteresis-type torque transmitter which facilitates torque detection without providing an external torque detector separately by a method wherein a torque detector which is positioned between a first main linking unit and a second main linking unit and detects a torque transmitted to the first main linking unit is provided on a rotary shaft.

CONSTITUTION: If a current is applied to an exciting coil 2, a magnetic flux Φis induced and a torque proportional to the hysteresis loop area is transmitted to a first main linking unit 1. The torque corresponding to a power transmitting portion is applied to a rotary shaft 6 and distortions are induced in magnetic layers 31 and 32. A permeability is varied by the distortion. Detecting coils 34 and 35 detect the variations of the permeabilities and a detecting circuit 39 differentially amplifies the outputs of the respective detecting coils 34 and 35 and outputs a detected voltage corresponding to the torque of the rotary shaft 6. As the detecting coils 34 and 35 are provided between bearings 7 and 8 like this, a compact built-in torque detector 38 can be provided.
