To provide an IC card that enables recognition of the operating status of the IC card from the appearance of the IC card.

The IC card has a connection terminal supplied with a circuit voltage from a reader/writer, a semiconductor integrated circuit driven by the circuit voltage, a converter for generating an AC voltage or switching voltage from the circuit voltage supplied to the connection terminal, one or more inorganic electroluminescence elements excited by the output voltage of the converter to emit visible light, and a switching circuit disposed between the converter and the inorganic electroluminescence elements or between the converter and the connection terminal. The semiconductor integrated circuit generates a control signal for turning on or off the switching circuit.
