PURPOSE: To provide an alkaline battery which is durable to vibration impact by using two sorts of gelatinizer, and including at least one sort of oxide, hydroxide, and sulfide of metal selected among In, Sn, and Bi, in addition.
CONSTITUTION: An alkaline battery is provided with a gel negative electrode including zinc alloy powder, gelatinizer and alkaline electrolyte. As the gelatinizer, crosslinked polyacrylic acid salt type water absorption polymer having carboxylic acid base of which 0.5wt% water solution-dispersed viscosity at 25°C is 15000cps or more, and of which grain size is 100-900μ chiefly, and crosslinked and branched type polyacrylic acid including carboxylic acid or crosslinked and branched type polyacrylic acid salt including carboxylic acid base of which water solution-dispersed viscosity is similar to above, and of which grain size is 100μ or less chiefly are used together. In addition, in the gel negative electrode, at least one sort of oxide, hydroxide, and sulfide of metal selected among indium, tin, or bismuth is used.
