CONSTITUTION: At the time of moving a mouse 3 from a position A to a position B, the coordinates of a moving amount detecting mechanism 1 and a moving amount detecting mechanism 2 at the position A are respectively defined as (xA1, yA1) and (xA2, yA2), and the coordinates of a moving amount detecting mechanism 1 and a moving amount detecting mechanism 2 at the position B are respectively defined as (xB1, yB1) and (xB2, yB2). In the mouse, the moving amounts in (x) and (y) directions are respectively obtained as a count number corresponding to (Δx1=xB1-xA1, Δy1=yB1-yA1), and (Δx2=xB2-xA2, Δy2=yB2-yA2). At that time, in a processing in the mouse, the Δx1 is compared with Δx2, and the larger amounts are defined as the moving amounts in the (x) direction, and Δy1 is compared with Δy2, and the larger amounts are defined as the moving amounts in the (y) direction. Then, the obtained moving amounts are communicated to the host electronic computer.
