Abstract:
PURPOSE:To efficiently digest sludge by confining the ratio of the flow stopping time and flowing time in the anaerobic digestion of settled sludge and cattle waste sludge by the fluidized bed using nearly spherical carriers of >=2.0 true sp. gr. and 2.0 to 5.0mmphi average grain size stuck with living carrier to <=30. CONSTITUTION:The sewerage sludge, the sludge generated from facilities for treating industrial waste water and the sludge contg. the org. matter of the cattle waste, such as poultry dung, are digested by making intermittent flow operation of the fluidized bed under the conditions under which the ratio between the flow stopping time and the flowing time is confined to <=30 in the anaerobic fluidized bed digestion method for biologically treating the above- mentioned sludge by using the nearly spherical carriers of >=2.0 true sp. gr. and 2.0 to 5.0mmphi average grain size stuck with the living carrier. The required fluidization energy is saved while the number of days for digestion is drastically shortened according to this method. In addition, the smooth continuation of the intermittent operations over a long period is realized.
