Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of oxide scale by adding a catalyst to a compsn., which is formed by compounding triethyl borate and water at a specific ratio with tetraethyl silicate, bringing this compsn. into a polymn. reaction by hydrolysis and using the reaction product obtd. in such a manner as the effective component of the above oxide scale preventive agent. CONSTITUTION:The compsn. is constituted by compounding the triethyl borate at 1 to 30 mol and the water at 0.5 to 1.5mol ratio per 1mol tetraethyl silicate. The catalyst is added to this compsn. and the compsn. is brought into the polymn. reaction by the hydrolysis to obtain the reaction product which is used as the effective component. The purpose of arc welding is achieved by the efficient operation in this way and the adverse influence on base metals is averted.
