PURPOSE: To simplify and miniaturize the constitution of a vibrating gyro.
CONSTITUTION: A pair of two vibrating pieces 14, 16 are projected from a base section 12 and provided in a vibrating gyro 10 made of a light alloy such as duralumin. Only piezoelectric elements 20 for exciting the vibrating piece 14 along an X axis are mounted at the root of the vibrating piece 14 on both side faces of the vibrating piece 14. The vibrations of the vibrating piece 14 along the X axis are propagated to the vibrating piece 16, and the vibrating piece 16 is brought previously under the state of vibrations along the X axis. On the other hand, only piezoelectric elements 24 detecting the state of vibrations at a time when the vibrating piece 16 is vibrated along a Y axis are installed at the root of the vibrating piece 16 on the upper and lower surfaces of the vibrating piece 16. When the vibrating piece 16 receives Coriolis force based on rotational angular velocity ω in the periphery of a Z axis and the vibrating piece 16 is vibrated along the Y axis, the state of vibrations along the Y axis is acquired as an electric signal (AC voltage) by the piezoelectric effect of the piezoelectric elements 24.
