PURPOSE: To obtain sufficient corrosion-resistance and wear-resistance under severer use conditions, by a method in which metal chromium with a purity of a specific value or above or a chromium-base alloy having a metal chromium content of a specific value or above is joined to each type of metal material.
CONSTITUTION: In the method for producing a chromium clad material, a metal chromium plate material with a purity of 99.5% or more is required as a starting material. Such a metal chromium plate material with high purity is obtained by sintering powder, obtained by an electrolytic process, an alumi-thermite method, a chromium oxide hydrogen-reduction method, or etc., and enlarging it by the application of pressure. A chromium-base alloy containing 70% or more metal chromium can be obtained by a fusion method or a powder metallurgy, method. Thus obtained metal chromium plate material and chromium-base alloy material are joined to metal, serving as a base material, via an insert material composed of copper or nickel. As the method for joining them, a diffusion joint-method is employed. However, other joint method can also be employed if sufficient joint strength is obtained and the occurrence of a crack is not caused.
