Abstract:
PURPOSE:To automatically form a stopper by a method in which a straw is passed into a pair of edged molds whose interval is slowly narrowed in such a way as to make it smaller gradually from a size greater than the diameter of straw to a size smaller than that. CONSTITUTION:The entrance diameter D of a pair of edged molds 10 facing each other which are heated is made greater than the diameter of a straw 2 to pass it between the molds 10. Also, the outlet interval (d) for the straw 2 of the molds 10 is made smaller than the diameter of the straw 2 and also the interval dimension is gradually reduced from the inlet 12 to the outlet 13. The straw 2 is guided from the right-handed inlet 12 to the left-handed outlet 13 and passed through the interval 11, where the stopper-forming section of the straw 2 is pressed by the edges of the molds 10 and deformed to have a recess by heating to form stoppers 8. The stopper of the straw can thus be easily formed by mechanized manner.
