Title:
GAMMA CORRECTING CIRCUIT FOR LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0662423
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent the loss of white balance caused by the conversion of brightness with the gamma correcting circuit of a liquid crystal display.

CONSTITUTION: The gamma correcting circuit of a liquid crystal display controls the driving signal in response to the corresponding contrast and brightness for displaying the images formed by the input video signals on a liquid crystal display. In such conditions, the control voltage of the corresponding brightness is converted into a digital signal by an A/D converting part 8. Then the gamma correction data corresponding to the gamma characteristic of the liquid crystal display are read out of a ROM 7 with the preceding digital signal and the signal obtained by digitizing the input video signal used as the addresses. As the same time, the correction coefficient of the gamma correction data can be adaptably varied by the control voltage of the corresponding brightness. Then the driving signal is obtained for the liquid crystal display with the gamma correction carried out by the varied gamma correction data.
