Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the recognition ratio of a character by normalizing a character thickness with a character thickness normalizing device.

CONSTITUTION: The character normalizing device for executing normalization for the recognition of a read character is provided with a distance converting means 1 for executing the distance conversion of a character pattern and finding out distance values, a thickness detecting means 2 for detecting the thickness of respective parts in the read character based upon the obtained distance values and a correcting means 3 for correcting the thickness based upon the detected character thickness and constituted so as to normalize the thickness of the read character.
