PURPOSE: To accurately operate a switch for switching the mode of a transaction process such as a key switch without using an operation nameplate and to improve the operability by displaying the switching state of a mode changeover switch by a switch state display means when the mode changeover switch is switched.
CONSTITUTION: A switch part 34 consists of a key switch 34a, a slide switch, etc., for setting a setting mode, a registration mode, a lock mode, an inspection mode, and a settlement mode. Then a display part which displays the position of the key switch 34a when the key switch 34a is operated is provided at part of a display 30 or display area where an article name, weight, a unit price, a price, etc., are displayed. Consequently, an operator only looks at the display 30 and need not confirm the position of the key switch 34a by directly viewing the state of the key switch 34a, so that the switch can accurately be switched to a desired mode such as the setting mode, registration mode, inspection mode, and settlement mode.
