PURPOSE: To reproduce a recorded tape under a recording state at arbitrary time by one set of a recording and reproducing device by recording a magnetic tape drawn out by a tape feed mechanism and reproducing it after drawing it out via a tape storage part by another tape feed mechanism which is independently operated.

CONSTITUTION: A magnetic tape of a supply reel part 101 is drawn out by a 1st tape feed mechanism 103, and is recorded by a recording part 102. This recorded tape is stored in the tape storage part 104, and is drawn out by a 3rd tape feed mechanism 107 which operates independently of the mechanism 103, and is reproduced by a reproducing part 106, and is then taken up by a tape take-up reel part 108. By this method, the recorded tape under the recording state can be reproduced by one set of the magnetic tape recording and reproducing device at arbitrary time. Furthermore, at the time of reverse reproducing, the recorded tape is drawn out of the reel part 108 by a 2nd tape feed mechanism 105 and is reproduced by the reproducing part 106.
