Abstract:
PURPOSE:To detect even local corrosion of a corrosible material and to detect corrosion with a quick responsiveness and a high sensitivity by measuring the change of stress of a member accompanied with the increase of the volume due to corrosion product generated in gaps constituted in the member. CONSTITUTION:A device consists of a test piece 1 having plural gap parts which are constituted in parallel and have several hundred mum size, supporting plates 3 which are attached to both sides of the test piece 1 in parallel with gap parts 2, a foil 4 straightly stretched between supporting plates 3, and a strain gauge 5 stuck to the surface of the foil 4. Corrosion in gap parts 2 is advanced in preference to corrosion in a free surface 6, and the corrosion prod uct 7 is generated to expand gaps 2 by a force 8. This force 8 gives tension to the foil 3, and its extent is measured as the extent of strain with 1X10<-6> resolution by the strain gauge 4 stuck to the surface.
