Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide an exhaust gas purifying device for an internal combustion engine, which can readily desorb HC adsorbed by an adsorbent.
CONSTITUTION: An adsorbent 19 located in a bypass pipe 15 adsorbs HC emitted from an engine 11 in a cold state. After warm-up of the engine, thus adsorbed HC is returned to the upstream side of a catalyst device 13 through a circulating passage 20 each time when the pressure of an exhaust pipe 14 become negative.
