PURPOSE: To prevent absorption of water content of food or the like and transfer of smell of a wood material to foods by forming a food container of which side walls are fitted to the circumferential part of bottom piece and of which upper part is open while side wall is made of a water-impermeable resin layer on the substantially whole surface of the inner circumferential face of a wooden thin plate member.

CONSTITUTION: A food container A of which upper part is open is composed of side wall 2 erected at the four sides as well as a bottom part 1 of which front face made of water-impermeable paper material having a resin layer on its surface. The side wall 2 is bent angularly with cut grooves 9 formed at the inner sides of a wooden thin plate member 3, and ends are connected by a stapler 7 or adhesive. At the inner face of the thin plate 2 a water-impermeable resin layer 4 is formed while at the outer circumferential face a resin layer 4a is formed. In grooves arranged at the lower part of the inner face the four sides of the bottom part 1 are fitted. It is thus possible to prevent absorption of water content from foods such as rice and the like and prevent transfer of smell of wood material to the foods. Furthermore it is possible to wash the container easily after usage and dispose and burn it easily upon non-use.
