PURPOSE: To obtain an information reproducing apparatus in which the deviation of a track edge is eliminated in an edited region and an unedited region in an insertion editing operation.
CONSTITUTION: The amplitude of a tracking pilot signal which is contained in a a reproduced signal from a head 2b is detected by a tracking-error-signal detector 7. On the basis of the detected amplitude, a detection sensitivity is estimated, an offset signal which can obtain a desired tracking shift amount is generated, and the offset signal is input to a capstan controller 14. Thereby, since a tracking operation is shifted by a proper amount in an insertion editing operation, the deviation of a track edge can be eliminated in an edited region and an unedited region.
