Abstract:
In a process for injection moulding a plastic component the plastic (32) is injected through a runner (20) and a gate (22) into a tool cavity (14) and after filling a piston (25) with a flow control edge (28) closes the gate and shears off the plastic material. A claimed process tool has a cavity(14) fed via a gate(22) from a runner(20) and a piston(25) with a control edge(28) moves along the runner(20) and across the gate. Preferably the first(11) and second(12) tool halves enclose a cavity(14) which is connected by a runner(20) to an injection unit. A device for shutting off flow between the injection unit and tool cavity(14) is located in the first tool half(11) and the injection unit is connected to the second tool half.
