PURPOSE: To provide a light-weighted, thin, short, and small switch button device especially suited to a portable type of electronic equipment such as a telephone.

CONSTITUTION: A thin board member 12 is formed from a thin metal sheet or a thin resin board, a plurality of display parts 12a are arranged in accordance with the arrangement of switches which are not illustrated and supported by narrow support beams 12a, and each of the support beams 12c has its integral flat structure continuing to rather wide belt parts 12b. Letters 13a, numbers 13b, patterns 13c, etc., are displayed on the display parts 12a by print in the case of the resin board or the thin metal sheet, and by half etching processing in the case of the thin metal sheet. The display parts 12a are insert-formed in such a state as covered by button parts 11 made of transparent resin. In the case of the thin metal sheet, penetration style of etching process for letters allows to produce a lighting type by lighting from the rear. In the case of etching processing, simultaneous etching processing for its outward form results in a cost reduction effect.
