Abstract:
A hardened telescoping load carrying device (10) includes a plurality of telescoping container sections (12,16,20) with interlocking edges (45,46;48,49) and a door (28) with interlocking edges (33,35;56a,56b). The telescoping sections (12,16,20) are loaded with baggage one at a time and then extended outwardly. The interlocking edges (45,46;48,49) on the telescoping sections (12,16,20) interlock when the device (10) is in the fully extended configuration. The interlocking edges (45,46;48,49) on the telescoping sections (12,16,20) and on the door (28) engage with increasing force in the event of an explosion within the device.
