PURPOSE: To obtain cold air in a short time after an operational switch is turned ON and, moreover, smoothly shift starting operation to ordinary operation.
CONSTITUTION: A regenerator is heated by a burner, and refrigerant vapor is thereby produced from a solution. The refrigerant vapor is liquefied by a condenser, and the liquefied vapor is sent to an evaporator to be evaporated, whereby air to be blown is cooled. A refrigerant tank is connected to the condenser via a valve V5 and stores a refrigerant. A controlling means (controller) closes the valve V5 immediately after operation is started, sends the refrigerant to the evaporator and then gradually opens the valve V5 to send the refrigerant to the refrigerant tank while ascertaining that a cooling temperature at the evaporator is not increased. Moreover, the controlling means detects an air blow temperature and opens the valve V5 while controlling the revolution of an air-cooling fan 17. By this method, cold air is obtained immediately after operation is switched ON. Thus, when starting operation is shifted to ordinary operation while storing the refrigerant and increasing the concentration of the solution, pressure differences between the condenser and the evaporator can be kept so as not to become a specific level or below, and smooth actuation can be obtained.
