Title:
METHOD FOR REDUCING TRIVALENT FE ION IN IRON BASED ELECTROPLATING SOLUTION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0711500
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce Fe3+ ion to Fe2+ ion in an iron based electroplating solution while properly retaining the presence of Fe3+ ion in the solution at all times, to prevent adhesion of the plating metal from being deteriorated and to improve the plating efficiency by generating a plasma in a gaseous hydrogen atmosphere to form hydrogen free radicals and allowing the hydrogen free radicals to contact with the electroplating solution.

CONSTITUTION: In the iron based electroplating, a plasma is generated in a hydrogen atmosphere to form hydrogen free radicals and the hydrogen free radicals are brought into contact with the iron based electroplating solution. Thus the Fe3+ ion in the solution can surely and rapidly be reduced to Fe2+ ion while properly retaining the presence of Fe3+ ion in the solution at all times. Accordingly, the quality of the plating and the plating efficiency can be improved.
