PURPOSE: To obtain a surveying method in which accuracy is enhanced by taking advantage of GPS.

CONSTITUTION: In the surveying method, a survey unit comprising a GPS antenna 10 and a GPS receiver 12 is installed at a surveying point and receives radio wave from a satellite in real time. The antenna 10 comprises a microstrip antenna 10a, and an RF amplifier 10b, whereas the receiver 12 comprises a Local oscillator 12a, an IF amplifier 12b, a DSP 12c, and a CPU 12d for receiving output signal from the DSP 12c and recording the output signal in a memory card 16. Upon start of survey at time T0 at a surveying point, orbital element data at that time is recorded on the card 16. Subsequently, phase data measued at every epoch is recorded. When the orbital information is updated at time T1, an updated orbital element data is recorded on the card 16. Subsequently, phase data is recorded on the card 16 at every epoch. Orbital element data is recorded every time when it is updated until the ending time of survey and the phase data is recorded on the card 16 at every epoch.
