Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filtering apparatus for production of a polymer latex, having portions not coming to contact with a filter element in a part of rotating blades of an agitating blade, capable of reducing cloggings of the filter element due to agglomerates, etc., decreasing frequency of exchange of filter elements and not producing waste water and liquor, and excellent in resistance to enviromental pollution. SOLUTION: This apparatus is a centrifugal-type filtering apparatus equipped with a 150 to 400-mesh filter element 2 made of a filter cloth knitted with a single yarn having a diameter of 20 to 60μm along the inner side of a cylindrical filtering chamber 1, and further equipped with an agitating blade in the filtering chamber 1. There are portions not coming to contact with the filter element 2 in at least a part of rotating blades 4 of the agitating blade in this filtering apparatus. It is preferable to provide a notch above a junction part of rotating blades 4 with a ribbon paddle 3 and to filter a polymer latex with the filtering apparatus after polymerization.
