Date Dec. 12, 1996A sample carrier and a method for performing quantitative IR transmission spectroscopy utilizes infrared radiation of a suitable wavelength for measuring a sample. The sample carrier includes a sample platform and a holder for holding the sample platform. A thickness of the sample platform is less than one quarter of a shortest wavelength of the suitable wavelength range. The sample platform is transparent to the infrared radiation in the suitable wavelength range.
