PURPOSE: To accurately detect the kind of a light source while the preventing increase of the cost and space.

CONSTITUTION: This camera with a light source kind detecting function is equipped with an output change detecting means 1 repeatedly obtaining a maximal or minimal value in a change in the output of photometery means 2 and 3 in a fixed time and the point of the maximal or minimal value, a difference calculating means 1 obtaining the difference between the maximal and minimal values in adjacent points obtained by the output change detecting means 1, an adding means 1 obtaining the sum of the absolute value of the difference obtained by the difference calculating means 1 and a discriminating means 1 discriminating the kind of the light source from the sum obtained by the adding means 1, the output of the photometry means 2 and 3 which have already been provided in a camera is detected and when there is a significant change in the output, the sum of this variation is obtained to detect the kind of the light source.
