Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prepare a solid crystalline phosphoric acid catalyst useful for hydrocarbon inversion by crystallizing silicon phosphate and silicon pyrophosphate together with siliceous raw materials under a specific steam level and temperature condition. CONSTITUTION: Phosphate oxides comprising crystals of both silicon phosphate and silicon pyrophosphate, and siliceous raw materials such as diatomite or the like are used. A mixture of these are crystallized at a temperature of 250 to 450 deg.C and the steam concentration of 3 to 50 mole % of all steam necessary in the crystallization process. Obtained thereupon is a solid crystalline phosphate catalyst having a desired phosphate catalyst crystal and total silicon phosphate X-ray strength of 30% or more higher than alpha-alumina. The solid phosphate catalyst thus obtained is useful for hydrocarbon inversion such as aromatic alkyl, polymerization of olefin or the like.
