PURPOSE: To rapidly search an optimum path after setting a destination and then start guiding crew members by searching road map data and then searching the optimum path from a present location to the surrounding each intersection and then screening data satisfying setting conditions from the search data.
CONSTITUTION: When the stop condition of a vehicle is detected by a vehicle stop detection means 203, a path searching means 204 searches the road map data of a road map storage means 200 and then searches the optimum path from the current location to each surrounding intersection. A data screening means 205 screens data satisfying setting conditions from search means data and then stores them at a search result storage means 206. When a destination is set by a setting means 201, a path search means 207 retrieves the search data stored in the storage means 206 and the storage data of the memory means 200 and then searches the optimum path from the destination to the current location, thus simplifying the path search to the intersection around the current location where the optimum path has already been searched and hence reducing an entire search time.
