Abstract:
PURPOSE: To enable automatic continuously variable shift from neutral, low, medium, and high speed, and to over drive and reverse drive in a state that all gears are connected together without releasing and changing the gears. CONSTITUTION: An automatic continuously variable transmission is constituted by connecting a transmission system 10 including an input sun gear 14, input operating gears 34 and output operating gears 38; a speed increasing system 50 including a speed increasing sun gear 56, carriers 60, 62 and a final ring gear 74; and a shift adjusting system 80 making use of a torque converter of a well known automatic transmission. A brake means including a low-speed brake means 93, a medium-speed brake means 94 and a speed increasing brake means 95 is provided, the brake means is operated as necessary to enable an automatic continuously variable shift.
