Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the subject solid electrolyte improved in ionic conductivity, by heating and melting a mixture of Li2S and other specific sulfide(s) in an inert gas flow containing moisture at a specified level or lower. CONSTITUTION:Mixed powder of Li2S powder and sulfide powder of X (X is at least one kind selected from B2S3, SiS2, GeS2 and P3S5) is put into a vitreous carbon crucible and melted under heating at ca.950 deg.C for 2hr or so in an inert gas flow (e.g. nitrogen gas flow) containing moisture at a level of <=100ppm. The resultant melt is poured into e.g. liquid nitrogen to obtain the objective highly ionically conductive solid electrolyte of formula aLi2S.bX (a+b=1). ALi2S-X-based sulfide glass is incorporated with a Li compound such as LiI or Li3PO4 followed by heat treatment under the same conditions as those mentioned above, affording a similar solid electrolyte of higher ionic conductivity.
