Abstract:

PURPOSE: To allow the manufacture of thin negative electrode and cell, facilitate the manufacture of a negative electrode having an optional form, and provide a lithium thermal cell at low cost.

CONSTITUTION: A method for manufacturing a negative electrode comprises setting a lithium foil on one surface of an iron powder layer compact formed by subjecting iron powder directly to pressure-molding in a molding die without using a negative electrode case, and then heating and fusing the iron powder layer compact to impregnate it with lithium. Further, in a method for manufacturing a negative electrode for lithium thermal cell a negative electrode obtained by cutting or punching the above electrode into an optional form dimension is used.
