Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prepare a raised woven or knit fabric having a calm luster and a natural fiber-like touch by dissolving and eroding the tip of the raised portion of the raised woven or knit fabric comprising polyester fiber containing specific fine particles to taper the raised portion and form a specified random uneven surface. CONSTITUTION:A raised woven or knit fabric having a raised fiber length of <=10mm is formed of polyester synthetic fibers having a single filament fineness of >=0.1 denier and containing 0.3-5wt.% of colloidal silica having an average particle diameter of <=0.2mu, preferably <=0.1mu. The tips of the raised fibers are dipped in a high viscosity solution containing a solvent capable of dissolving or decomposing the fibers and subsequently subjected to a wet heat treatment at a temperature of >=80 deg.C to dissolve and erode the surface of the raised fibers, thereby tapering >=20% of the lengths of the raised fibers and forming the random uneven surface having 10-1000 projections and depressions per 100mu<2>, the projections and depressions having an average distance of 0.2mu-0.7mu between the lowest point of a depression in the outer peripheral direction crossing with the axis of the fiber and the lowest point of a neighboring depression.
