PURPOSE: To improve the image reproducibility based on the image signals in an image recording state.
CONSTITUTION: A synchronous processing circuit 120 outputs two signals having the synchronization secured with each other by a picture element clock GC1, the raster gate signal RG1 which has a high level to the image recording picture elements of a single scanning line, and the AND signal RG01 of the signal/FF1 having the pulse width of the image data on the white picture elements to a pulse width modulator PWM 50. The signal RG01 is set at a low level with a white picture element. Then PWM 50 produces a pulse signal to modulate the semiconductor laser based on the signal RG01. Therefore the PWM 50 produces no pulse signal corresponding to the white picture element so that no faint laser beam is produced in an image recording state corresponding to the white picture element. Thus the photosensitive material never produces the fog.
