Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the improving effect of the wear resistance in the title fiber equal to that of reinforcing fiber having high capacity by covering precursory fiber with an oxidic layer and forming composite oxide onto the interface therebetween. CONSTITUTION:The precursory fiber selected from the group of alumina-silica fiber, mineral fiber, glass fiber, potassium titanate whisker and the mixture thereamong is covered with the oxidic layer selected from the group of aluminum oxide, chromium oxide, zirconium oxide and the mixture thereamong; it is subjected to heat treatment, etc., to form composite oxide onto the interface between the precursory fiber and the oxidic layer. Said reinforced fiber forms a molded body and is applied to the manufactures of a fiber reinforced metallic composite material. In said reinforced fiber, inexpensive fiber can be used as precursory fiber.
