Title:
PHASE SHIFT BINARY OPTICAL ELEMENT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0749405
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a phase shift means for an unpolarized light.

CONSTITUTION: Two sections 16 and 18 of a binary optical element 10 are mutually offset in orthogonal directions, that is, perpendicular directions. The shift of a phase is generated from light beams 24 transmitted through the sections. When the offset of λ/2(n-1) is generated, the shift of π is generated in phases between the beams transmitted through the two sections 16 and 18 of the binary optical element 10. When the offset of λ/4(n-1) is generated, the shit of π/2 is generated in the phases between the beams transmitted through the two sections 16 and 18 of the binary optical element 10.
