Abstract:
PURPOSE:To decrease the voltages to be applied on the insulating layers at the points where members come into contact with each other via insulators to a lower value by providing a plurality of the bending points in the energization circuit of a self-heat generation type catalyst carrier. CONSTITUTION:A metallic plate consisting of a flat plate 2 and corrugated plate 3 carrying catalysts is bent and is housed in a honeycomb shape into a case. The corrugated plate 3 and the flat plate 2 are connected in series at this time and bending points 5, 6 exist. The voltage E applied at the terminals of both ends is E1+E2. The bending points have the high probability that the insulating layer is broken by the contact between the members via the insulator at one point in the central part but if the bending points exist n-pieces, the voltage is the sum of the voltages applied at the respective bending points. Then, the voltages at the points where the members come into contact via the respective insulators can be made lower than the voltage impressed to the catalyst carrier itself.
