Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce a staple fiber mat-like article consisting of thermoplastic resin fibers and/or reinforcing fibers and excellent in dispersion uniformity especially in the lateral direction thereof.

CONSTITUTION: A large number of fibers 1 are supplied at a definite interval and cut by cutters 4 arranged in a lateral direction at a definite interval to form staple fibers 7 which are, in turn, allowed to fall in a dispersed state to be collected on a conveyor 12 to produce a mat-like article. In this case, partition plates 8 are provided in a dispersing chamber 11 at a definite interval to disperse and collect the staple fibers without mixing them between the cutters.
