Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide the method for producing prostaglandin F2α from prostaglandin E2 in the presence of a readily available and low-cost reducing agent in a high yield.
CONSTITUTION: This method for producing prostaglandin F2α is characterized by reduction of prostaglandin E2 in the presence of an aluminum hydride compound represented by formula R1R2AlH (R1 and R2 are each a 3 to 8C alkyl. Both may be either same or different).
