PURPOSE: To obtain a heat mode recording material useful for obtaining an excellent color image by arranging a donor layer containing an image forming substance to be transferred to an image receiving material, a recording layer containing a photothermal conversion substance, and a barrier layer impermeable to the forming substance on a support.

CONSTITUTION: The heat mode recording material comprises a donor layer containing an image forming substance to be transferred to an image receiving material by heating, a recording layer containing a photothermal conversion substance in the form of a heat by absorbing an energy in the form of a light, and a barrier layer impermeable to the forming substance on a support. In the case obtaining a color image, first the recording material is exposed to the image to an intense ultraviolet ray. Then, the exposed material is rubbed, and the barrier layer is removed at the exposed part. Then, the exposed material is heated on the entire surface, and transferred according to the image to the material of the forming substance.
