Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the subject aqueous liquid, capable of providing films excellent in weather resistance, etc., by reacting a hydroxyl group- and fluorine- containing polymer with an isocyanate group-containing vinyl monomer and a carboxyl group-containing vinyl polymer in an organic solvent, neutralizing the resultant polymer with a basic compound and adding water thereto. CONSTITUTION:A hydroxyl group- and fluorine-containing polymer (preferably prepared by copolymerizing vinyl fluoride, etc., with hydroxyethyl vinyl ether, etc.) is reacted with an isocyanate group-containing vinyl monomer (e.g. tolyene diisocyanate) and then a carboxyl group-containing vinyl monomer (preferably an acrylic acid ester, etc.) in an organic solvent (e.g. methylal) having no active hydrogen group and the resultant reaction product is then neutralized with a basic compound (e.g. ammonia). Water is then added to the neutralized reaction product and the aforementioned organic solvent is removed to afford the objective aqueous liquid suitable as coatings, etc.
