PURPOSE: To obtain a polyaspartamide deriv., which adsorbs bile acids and can be used as pharmaceuticals by reacting polyasparaginic anhydride with dimethylaminoethylamine, anhydrous 2-hydroxypyridine and aminoethanol.
CONSTITUTION: The polyaspartamide deriv. is an α- or β-linked polyaspartamide deriv. of formula I, wherein RI, RII, RIII and RIV are each H, a group of formula II (where A is 2-5C linear or branched alkylene, alkenylene or alkynylene; and R1 and R2 are each H or 2-6C alkyl), a group of formula III (where R3 is a 2-8C natural or synthetic resin acid, dicarboxylic acid, dicarboxylic ester or amide bonded to the carboxyl group) or a group of formula IV; (r) is 0-0.5; (s) is 0.1-0.9; (t) is 0.9-0.1; (u) is 0-0.5; and (v) is 0-0.5.
