Abstract:
The structure is esp. for a printing-press cylinder, having evenly-spaced protruding components (2) with valleys between them. The printed matter is supported by the components, while the surface consists of a layer of chrome or material containing chrome. The components (2) are mounted on base material (3), their supporting surfaces (4) containing a large number of recesses (5), which increase surface roughness. The recesses can form an irregular network of gaps, furrows and cracks. The ones in the components can be clearly larger than those in the valleys (6). The components can be in the shape of ball-sockets, cylinders, truncated cones or pyramids.
