To increase a service life and reduce a thickness of an IC card reader.
A slider 21 is provided such that the slider 21 can move in parallel to and opposite to a card insertion path 5, and the slider 21 is energized to a reverse insertion direction B by a spring. The slider 21 is provided with a claw 21b such that the claw 21b contacts with the tip 2b of an IC card 2, and one end part 22a of a plate spring 22 is fixed. A connector 23 having a contact 23a is installed to the other end part 22b of the plate spring 22 such that the connector 23 faces the card insertion path 5, and the contact 23a is energized upward and is evacuated. An upper frame 3a is provided with a protrusion 3g such that the protrusion 3g faces the card insertion path 5. When the IC card 2 is inserted into the card insertion path 5, the tip 2b of the IC card 2 contacts with the claw 21b, and the slider 21 moves to an insertion direction F of the IC card 2. Thereby, the plate spring 22 contacts with the protrusion 3g to bend downward, and introduces the contact 23a into the card insertion path 5 to bring it into contact with an IC contact point 2a of the IC card 2.
