To provide an IC card reader/writer capable of preventing a failure to pull out an IC card by inserting the IC card in the IC card reader/writer to set it, and emitting an alarm sound at the time set by a user himself or herself.

This IC card reader/writer is put in a connected state with a connecting terminal part of the IC card inserted from an IC card insertion part and carried by an IC card carrying means, and set to the IC card to read/write data. The IC card reader/writer is provided with a sensor for detecting the IC card carried by the IC card carrying means; a loudspeaker for emitting the alarm sound; a timer for counting the lapse of time from the time of detecting the presence of the IC card by the sensor and confirming whether the time has reached the set time set by the user beforehand; and a means for controlling the alarm sound to be emitted from the loudspeaker when reaching the set time set to the timer by the user.
