PURPOSE: To prevent a contacting part between a terminal and a contact from being displaced when a large impact acts on an IC socket, and to prevent the occurrence of abrasions caused by small sliding movements of the contact by producing edges which bite a terminal at the point of contact between the contact and the terminal.
CONSTITUTION: The feature of this invention resides in the configuration of a contact 5 of an IC socket 1. The contact 5 is produced by trimming processes, by producing edges 6 at the tip end of the contact 5 by post-processes, and by being subjected to bending processes. A plurality of the edges 6 are formed at the contacting part of the contact where the contact 5 comes in contact with a terminal 2a. With these edges, if there is dimensional variation in the terminal 2a as shown by dotted lines, it is possible to prevent the contact 5 from separating from the terminal 2a. Thus, the contact 5 comes in edge-contact with the terminal 2a, whereupon the edges 6 interlock with the terminal 2a. Therefore, the contacting location will not be displaced if a large impact is exerted on the IC socket, and hence it is possible to prevent the occurrence of abrasions caused by small sliding movements of the contact.
